Pre-Owned Photo FAQ

Return Policy

We want our customers to be completely satisfied with their purchases from Pre-Owned Photo, but we understand that sometimes an item needs to be returned or exchanged. If you are not content with your purchase, you can return it within 15 days of the delivery date. If an item is bought in store, the date of purchase is the delivery date. You have the option of exchange or refund. The item must be returned in the same condition as the original sale, free of additional wear, damage, or defects, and complete with all originally included accessories. All returns are subject to inspection and return approval by management. After 15 days, all merchandise requested to be returned will be accepted as an exchange only, or priced as a trade-in.


For return of online purchases, please contact us prior to shipping the goods to obtain service advice or a Return Authorization. There is a link in your delivery confirmation email to initiate a return. We can also be reached via e-mail at returns@preownedphoto.com or by phone 251-478-0487.


Return shipping will be at the buyer’s expense, with the only exception being the rare case of an incorrect shipment or a defective product. For your convenience, we will provide a prepaid return shipping label at our discounted shipper rates and deduct the return shipping cost from your final refund. 


Your shipment will be checked upon receipt. Any missing or damaged merchandise, parts or packaging will be reported to you within 10 days.


The following conditions must be met for products to qualify for refunds or exchanges:

  • The item must be accompanied by the original receipt (not a copy) and our RMA number.
  • The total will be refunded by your choice of original method of payment, Pre-Owned Photo gift card, or store credit.
  • In-store Cash purchases totaling more than $100.00 will be refunded by check and may take up to 7 business days to process.
  • If refunded by credit card or debit, the original cardholder must be present for in-store returns.
  • Pre-Owned Photo does not accept return of products sold in bargain, parts only, or “as-is” conditions


RESTOCKING FEES

If we determine that an item is returnable but does not meet all guidelines listed above for same condition product, such as missing accessories, excessive wear, or excessive use beyond the products originally shipped condition, up to a 25% restocking fee may be assessed. We can process a return with a nonrefundable deduction on your refund. The fee charged may vary depending on the item's condition, the state of the item's packaging and the item value. Pre-Owned Photo reserves the right to refuse the refund of any product that does not meet these criteria.

Shipping

How long will it take my product to arrive?

We ship orders 6 days a week, and most orders are processed within 1 business day. You will receive a shipping confirmation email with personalized tracking link at approximately 6:00 PM Central time on the day your order ships.


Free standard shipping will be shipped by a method of our choosing, USPS, UPS Ground, or another method. For customers in the Southeast, shipping times are generally 1-2 business days, Northeast and Midwest customers 2-3 Business days, and West Coast customers 4-5 Business Days. 


For a faster or more specific delivery time, or your choice of shipping carrier, additional shipping options are available during checkout for a fee.


Why is my box so ugly?

To reduce waste and costs, we reuse shipping boxes whenever possible. This might mean your package has made a few trips around the country, but we will only use boxes that are approved for shipping and in good structural condition.

Product

How will I know what product I’ll receive?

All listings on our website are of individual items. The images that you see on a listing are the actual item that you will receive after purchase. Please check our condition rating of an item and look through all images before deciding on your purchase. We will always attempt to add images of any signs of major wear or use.


Where do your products come from?

We receive our products through various sources and partners, including:

  • Trade-ins for new purchases at Calagaz Photo Stores
  • Trade-ins right here on our website
  • Buying/Trade-in events at photo retail partners around the country


I Bought an item and then was told it is not available, what’s the deal?!

All items for sale on Pre-OwnedPhoto.com are also available in our retail stores and other select online channels. As each listing is for a unique item, it is possible in rare instances that an item was sold via another channel before the availability had a chance to update on our website. If this unique situation occurs, we will be in touch with you as soon as possible and will attempt to replace your desired purchase with a comparable or better item at either the same price or a lower price. Of course, a cancellation of your purchase with full refund is always an option for you to select as well.

Warranty

Do you include any warranty on purchases?

You can purchase with confidence knowing that all of our products are thoroughly checked to be in full working order before listing on our site. With the exception of items sold in “Bargain” “Parts-Only” or “AS-IS” conditions, all purchases include a 45-day warranty to cover the functionality of the purchased equipment. This warranty does not cover any cosmetic appearance of an item, or any physical damage from accidental handling that may occur after you are in possession of the item. If you should need warranty service on a purchase, please get in contact with us as soon as possible.


Do you offer any additional warranty options?

We are proud to partner with Mack Camera Worldwide Warranties to offer 1 or 2 year extended warranty terms on the majority of Digital Cameras and Lenses that we sell. They are not eligible for purchase on film cameras, film lenses, or any camera accessories. Mack camera warranties must be purchased within 10 days of the original purchase date. These warranties are designed to cover the same types of defects that would be covered under the original manufacturer’s warranty of an item. They do not cover against any physical or liquid damage of product. Please reach out to us if you would like to review a sample warranty contract before purchasing.

Trade-ins

We accept items both for trade-in towards a purchase and for outright sale as well. Please fill out the form on our trade-ins page here and include as much detail as possible. Trade-in/sale requests submitted with pictures of your item(s) will receive the most accurate quotes. We will be in touch typically within 24 hours of your submission to provide an offer and inform you on next steps if you accept our offer.

Repairs

We are proud to have an in-house repair service located in our stores. Our repair technician has decades of experience in repairing all types of photographic cameras, lenses, and equipment. We offer repairs as a service for ALL equipment, not just products purchased from us. Simply fill out the form on our repairs page and we will be in contact typically within 24 hours for next steps and a preliminary cost estimate.

Payment Methods

What payment options do you offer?

At this time, we accept all major credits for online purchases. We also offer checkout via PayPal.
We do not accept payment over the phone for any purchases.


Is your website secure for payments?

All purchases made on Pre-OwnedPhoto.com are processed through the Stripe or PayPal payment network, and are fully encrypted and SSL secured. Your payment information is never stored on our site at any point before during or after your purchase process and is never fully accessible to us beyond the last 4 digits of your account number for verification purposes.

Pre-Owned Photo is the used camera gear division of Calagaz Photo Supply, INC. Over the past decade, our used equipment sales have grown to be a significant portion of our business and we have chosen to provide this separate platform to better showcase all the we have to offer. We have been operating in the Photo Specialty business since 1955 and one of the very few stores of our kind still located in the Southeast. We are located in Mobile, AL and we are continuing to grow and thrive amidst our rapidly changing industry, and changes to the retail industry as a whole.
